How To Install Adobe reader on Ubuntu 14.04
Adobe reader is the most important PDF viewer . This post helps you that how to install adobe reader in Ubuntu 14.04 . As of now adobe reader is not included in the official Ubuntu 14.04 repository. Adobe Reader for Linux is no longer available for official download. If you need it to download and install Manually . Adobe has already released .dep package for Debian which can be use for Ubuntu 14.04.
- Open up your terminal and run given below command for the adding repository for adobe installation :-
$ sudo add-apt-repository deb http://archive.canonical.com/ precise partner"
Type in your user password if it required.
After adding repository , update package list and install acroread package using below command :-
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install acroread
- Once installed you should open it from application menu.
3- If you want to make it your default PDF reader , run below command in terminal and edit config file :-
$ sudo vi /etc /gnome/defaults.list
- When the file opens, do it :-
Find out and change the line in
application/pdf=acroread.desktop Add below lines into the end of :- application/fdf=acroread.desktop application/xdp=acroread.desktop application/xfdf=acroread.desktop application/pdx=acroread.desktop Finally save the file and restart nautilus [run command nautilus -q in terminal] for apply the changes.
